Hello! I am Mary Beth Wiskus and this is my 15th year directing DCVC as well as my 15th year as a head varsity volleyball coach at Dowling Catholic High School. I went to Kuemper Catholic High School in Carroll, IA. I was a 3 sport(volleyball, basketball, and softball) varsity athlete for 4 years in high school. I attended Loras College and played as a setter there from 1996-2000. I earned my masters degree in Mathematics from University of Illinois Chicago in 2002 and have been coaching volleyball since 1999. My husband and I have two awesome boys who will be a 10th grader at Dowling Catholic and a 7th grader at Sacred Heart next fall. 

My purpose for directing this club to to inspire young women to be positive, confident, and faith-filled leaders on and off the court through this awesome sport of volleyball. We have a AMAZING coaching staff to help support this mission statement! I am excited to get started with our upcoming season and build the future of Dowling Catholic Volleyball! 

Hi! My name is Taylor Widiker. I have been playing volleyball since I was 11! I am originally from a small town in Northern Wisconsin and graduated college May of 2023 at UW- La Crosse with a degree in Exercise Sport Science. In 2020, I had the opportunity to coach ages 12-14, and I found a love for coaching! I love being able to work with the younger generations and watch them develop the same passion for the sport as I have. I am looking forward to being a coach for 11u this year at Dowling Catholic Volleyball Club!

Hello! My name is Josi Lonneman. This is my first year here and I am from a small town called Adel where I played volleyball as an outside hitter all through middle and high school. I am currently a senior in the nursing program at Grand View University where I played soccer for the last 4 years. I have always loved volleyball and have experience coaching younger girls. I love sharing what I have learned on and off the volleyball court with them. I am excited to be a part of the club and to meet all the girls! 

Hello! My name is Tracy Flynn and this is my first year coaching at DCVC.  My family and I moved to Des Moines 10 years ago from Cincinnati, OH and I have been working at Dowling Catholic the last eight years, in the Student Life Office (aka Attendance Office.)

My husband Ned and I have been married for 26 years and have 3 wonderful daughters, Katie (25), Ellie (23) and Anna (20).  My two youngest daughters played at Dowling as varsity liberos for MaryBeth.  All three of my daughters played volleyball from 3rd grade to 8th grade and I coached them all at different levels of play.  I coached grade school volleyball for 10 years in Cincinnati as well as an 11U club team for 2 years.  After our move to Des Moines I coached the Sacred Heart 7th and 8th grade teams for 3 years.

I love coaching and being able to teach the game of volleyball to young girls.  I believe in developing a positive culture where the girls support each other, where every player contributes to the success of the team, and every player learns to love and have fun at the sport of volleyball.   

Hi, my name is Marisa Benore (Reese). I have played volleyball since I was 13 and always have had a passion for the sport! When I moved from Michigan to Iowa to start my career at John Deere, I started coaching in my free time. I have been coaching both High School and Club the last 12 years. I also serve as the Assistant Director of the DCVC Club.

Hello! My name is Hannah Laabs. I graduated from Guthrie Center High School in 2013. I played volleyball all four years of high school. I graduated from Grand View University in April of 2017 with a double major in Psychology and Human Services. I currently work as a Special Education Associate at Prairieview 8th/9th School in Waukee. This will be my 6th year coaching with Dowling Catholic Volleyball Club. I am very excited to be coaching the 12u’s this season and am looking forward to watching our girls grow and develop skills in and outside of volleyball!

Hello! My name is Anna McInville. I started playing volleyball in middle school, and I have loved playing ever since. I grew up in Des Moines, and I played volleyball at Dowling Catholic High School. Last year, I coached volleyball for one of the parochial leagues in the area. I loved watching the girls learn more about the sport and gain new skills throughout the season. I am very excited to coach the 12U Regional team this upcoming season!

Hi! My name is Tori DeVoogd and I will be coaching the 12U Regional Team. I have been playing volleyball since I was in 6th grade and it has been a passion of mine ever since. I graduated from Dowling Catholic High School in 2021 and I just recently graduated from Grand Canyon University in December of 2023. I was an assistant coach for a 17U volleyball team and it was great seeing their improvement throughout the year. This will be my first year as a coach for DCVC and I am so excited to see the girls grow in their passion for volleyball and learn new skills along the way. 

Hello! My name is Celia Hunter and I am so excited to be back again for another season at DCVC. I graduated from Dowling Catholic in 2016 and am currently teaching in Ankeny. I have been involved with volleyball since I was 10 years old and have a true passion for the sport. This will be my 4th year coaching after coaching 12U for two years and 14U for one year. I have a huge admiration for this sport as it teaches more than just a game, but some great life skills that stick with you long after your play time. I am looking forward to getting started this season!

Hi, my name is Jenny Fisher. I have played volleyball since I was 12 and have had a love for the sport ever since! I am from Illinois, but moved to Iowa once I graduated from Iowa state. This will be my third year coaching at DCVC, at various levels, and as a freshmen coach at Dowling Catholic High School. I love being able to watch the girls grow in their passion for volleyball, and not only become amazing players, but amazing people off and on the court. I am really looking forward to coaching 13U Nationals! I am positive that it will be a fun and impactful season.

Hello! My name is Katie Gathman and this will be my first year coaching for DCVC. I started playing volleyball in fourth grade and instantly loved the sport! I played all four years while at Dowling and graduated in 2014. 

I attended Iowa State University (Go Cyclones!) to study dietetics and became a Registered Dietitian following my internship program at the University of Iowa in 2019. I am now working as a dietitian at On With Life in Ankeny. 

I married my husband, Garrett, in 2021 and we live in West Des Moines with our golden doodle, Chip. I am so excited to be a coach this year and teach the girls important skills that will benefit them both on and off the court!

My name is Nicole Mahowald and this is my first year coaching for DCVC! I started playing volleyball in second grade until graduating highschool in 2015 from Bethlehem Academy in Faribault, MN. I continue to play recreational sand volleyball throughout the summer!

In 2019 I graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor's degree in Marketing. I currently work at Ruan as a Marketing Communications Specialist! 

Hi, my name is Derrian Zabel. I recently moved to the Des Moines area last August! I am from a small town in Southern Indiana. I played volleyball in Indiana from age 10-18 and absolutely loved every minute of it! I have 5 years of coaching experience for high school and rec. leagues. I am also coaching the Dowling Freshman A team this year! I take great pride in the skills I teach my players, both in the game of volleyball and in life. I am looking forward to coaching the 14U National team!

My name is Dejah Behrend I will be the 14U National assistant coach. I have played volleyball for most of my life, but I entered competitive play when I was twelve. I played for both my school and club while participating a multitude of training sessions and camps along the way. I had the luxury of playing the sport I love at South Dakota School of Mines & Technology from August 2019 - May 2023 and becoming the first African American to graduate the program. As I finished my career as a player, I began my career as a coach. While I am new, I know I have the knowledge, work ethic, and passion it takes to lead a team and I cannot wait to work with each player and watch them grow.

Hi my name is Kealey Anderson. I have played volleyball ever since I was 5 years old! My mom was the assistant coach growing up, so I went to every practice/game with her and grew to love volleyball from then on. I’m originally from a small town in Southwest Iowa called Shenandoah. I played college volleyball at Iowa Central for 2 years, and then started coaching right after that. My favorite part about coaching is being able to see the growth and development of each player not only on the court, but also in their personalities. This will be my first year with DCVC, and I’m so excited! I can’t wait to give back to the game I love :)
